
CELEBRATION OF RECEIVING THE EUROPEAN UNION PRIZE FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE
Cultural Heritage without Borders has celebrated the receiving of
European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Award:
“for great dedication in the reconstruction of heritage in an area ravaged by war and for a sustained contribution to intercultural dialogue, social cohesion and reconciliation between various ethnic groups in the Balkans.”
The award ceremony took place in the Ethnographical Department of National Museum in Sarajevo, on 21st of February, 2007 in the presence of persons from the political and cultural sphere of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the representatives of diplomatic missions in BiH, the representatives from international organizations in BiH and media.
The ceremony was opened by H.E. Dr Haris Silajdžić, member of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina. His speech was followed by Mr Frano Maroević, on behalf of the head of European Commission’s Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, H.E. Ambassador Dimitris Kourkoulas.
On behalf of Europa Nostra Mr John Sell, Europa Nostra Vice-President, gave a speech and handed the award to Mr Andreas Heymowski, Deputy Chairmen of Cultural Heritage without Borders. The ceremony was closed with a short addressing of Ms Amra Hadžimuhamedović, the member of National Commission to Preserve National Monuments, after which the guests enjoyed the music by accordion quintet and some snacks and drinks.
