Three-day capacity building seminar ‘The value of joint working - strengthening museums in the Western Balkans’

Cultural Heritage without Borders (CHwB) announces Call for Applications for the three-day capacity building seminar ‘The value of joint working - strengthening museums in the Western Balkans’. The seminar will be held in Ohrid, Macedonia October 10-12 2012.
The main aim of the three-day capacity building seminar is on partnership building through planning of practical projects that will create change and strengthen museums in the Western Balkans.

CHwB has been supporting the development of the Balkan Museum Network since 2006 and the seminar is part of CHwB’s work on fostering capacities of museums committed to become democratic and open meeting places. The Balkan Museum Network is currently based on 11 museums that are cooperating on a travelling exhibition ”1+1, Life & Love” and co-ordinate a “Female Museum Network”. The aim is to broaden and develop Balkan Museum Network as a platform for museum cooperation across the Balkan region and we are now seeking new partners to join us.

Candidates should be museum managers, curators and senior museum staff, able to work in English. The seminar is designed as practical work that will connect museum professionals from across the Western Balkans, build the capacity of participants in project management, allow space for museum professionals to present project ideas and get feedback from the participants on the ideas, develop the idea further using project management tools, and find cross-border partners for cooperation.

The deadline for submitting applications is September 14, 2012. You will be informed of the outcome immediately after this date.

Applications should be submitted in English by e-mail to BMN at: museums@chwb.org. Travel costs and accommodation (meals included) are fully covered by CHwB. Museum professionals from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia are particularly encouraged to apply.

We are looking forward to receiving your application!
