Disability and accessibility workshop in Gothenburg, Sweden , Feb 22-26, 2010

As a part of an overall project "Disability and Accessibility in the museums of the Western Balkan Region ", CHwB organized the workshop in Gothenburg, Sweden. The workshop brought together 18 professionals from 10 museums from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia

During the workshop, each museum presented their small scale projects related to the disability and accessibility in the museums. These projects have been developed in all museums during 2009 from the small grants funded by CHwB through Stavros Niarchos Foundation.

The workshop was led by Diana Walters, CHwB regional museum coordinator and Michele Taylor, International Expert from UK.

In 2010 the focus will be on evaluating the projects and developing larger scale bespoke projects for each museum. This menu will include web development, audience development, training disabled people to deliver workshop sessions, Disability Equality Training for staff who have not attended workshops and a full-blown access audit. Disability issues will also be built into the exhibitions strand of the network.
