Culture Minister tours CHwB projects in Gjirokastra

On June 22, 2012, Albania's Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports, Mr. Aldo Bumçi visited the historic city of Gjirokastra, taking the opportunity to see several CHwB project sites while getting a feel for the heritage situation in the city.

During his time in Gjirokastra, Mr. Bumçi saw the repair works done during the 8th Regional restoration camp in May 2012, namely plaster repair works on the Babaramo/Jahja 1st-category monument, the ongoing restoration at the Babameto 1st-category monument and the finalized restoration at the Babameto 2nd-category monument in the heart of the old bazaar.

While visiting the ongoing restoration of the Babameto 1st-category monument, Minister Bumçi stopped by the onsite window repair workshop, where he had a chance to see the ongoing repair of windows for this monument house. At this same site, the minister took the chance to share his views with the media (representatives of TVSH, Albania’s national television station), where he thanked CHwB for all the good works and contributions they are making toward the successful protection of Gjirokastra's cultural heritage. The visit was concluded with a trip to the Babameto 2nd-category monument, where the minister expressed his satisfaction with the finished works and with further efforts to revitalize this important monument.
