1 October 2004

Once upon a time,
somewhere around late XIX century, there was a stone quart with a narrow street.
Stonewalls surrounded the yards and defined the direction of the street. Horse carts would pass by carrying harvest, while some were bringing the cattle back from pasture. In the evening, the fireplace would gather the villagers.
Today,
October 2004, same quart still exists. Surprisingly, it seems it survived. One can still see cattle and harvest. But today, it has seems forsaken by the world.
With each passing day, this place is losing its historical parts...

Therefore, today everyone wants to see, touch, feel, protect and respect this solely surviving neighbourhood that presents the Kosovar way of life along history, to remember the past and serve the future.
This is why, on Sunday, October 3, from 10:00 – 16:00 we will be in Dranoc,
to celebrate the Days of Kosovar Heritage.
We believe you will attend, too.
This quart represents Kosovar and European culture, both at the same time.

The Programme
Meeting point will be the historical setting or (stone houses and kullas) that will be open for the interested public on this day.
Signs of the event will be visible in the area where the celebration is to be held.
Activities:
- Market with handicrafts – Ethnological exhibition -
- Visit to the historical zone of Dranoc -
- Photo exhibition – Traditional dances and games -
- Performance of construction/restoration works in the Cultural Centre of CHwB (Mazrekaj Kulla) -
- Food from traditional cooking -
Various activities in way of celebrations will enable the visitors, in a pleasant and joyous way, to learn directly about the rural culture of the place.

P. S.:
Organisation of Heritage Days is supported by the European Commission and Council of Europe.
This year, the celebration will be held in 49 regions of Europe (including Kosovo) with the motto: ”Europe, joint heritage”.
First efforts to organise an event that would correspond to the aims of EHD (European Heritage Days) was „Heritage Week“ held in Isniq from October 3-5, 2003 and was organised by the Swedish NGO CHwB and was supported by Kosovo Ministry of Culture.
CHwB NGO (field office in Prishtina) continues the efforts to make this celebration an annual event. This year, a different Kosovar cultural and historical area was selected and this is Dranoc, Municipality of Deçan.
In this exact municipality, the Kosovo heritage Monastery of Deçan was put under the protection of UNESCO, that presents a great world recognition for Kosovo heritage.
