Foundation
for
"Cultural
Heritage without Borders"
Local
office in Prishtina, Kosovo

The Foundation's aim is to work towards creating
public awareness and involvement in our common cultural heritage
in the world. Cultural
Heritage without Borders, CHwB, was founded in 1995 when the systematic
destruction of cultural heritage became apparent after the end
of civil war in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Cultural heritage is taken
here to mean above all buildings, objects, artisan techniques
and written records. In order to understand the present and to
be equipped for the future we must all take responsibility for
our common cultural heritage. Work within the Foundation is conducted
on an ideal basis with the specific task of restoring cultural
property in those areas ravaged by conflicts, catastrophes or
endangered in other ways. The scope of the Foundation's activities
has hitherto been confined to involvement in the Balkans. Today
we are working in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro.
