CHwB
local office in Kosovo - Building restoration and capacity building
in the cultural heritage sector
Background
CHwB has been working in Kosovo since 2001, the first year with
the project “Restoration of five Kullas in Kosovo 2001-2002”,
funded by the EU/EAR and Swedish Sida.
During that project CHwB created a local office for project management,
an office that has been able to continue its work thanks to funding
from Sida.
Our
objectives are
# To continue to try to save the built heritage, no matter ethnic
origin. It includes both restoration projects and sustainability
for the restored objects (protection regulations, maintenance
programs, financing, etc.).
# To assist the authorities in reaching international standards
in the heritage area.
# To contribute to capacity building inside the authorities but
also at the University for teachers and students and for professionals
outside the authorities, such as architects, consultants, builders,
craftsmen and material supplier.
# To work for cooperation and reconciliation between different
ethnic groups and to contribute to positive gender effects in
all our projects.
Our
plans for the future
We intend to continue to be a guarantee for a good and correct
use of the donors funding and to safeguard a high quality level
in our projects, according to international principles of restoration.
We hope to start joint projects all over Balkan, cooperating with
the authorities and other stakeholders in the heritage sector
in the different countries. We believe we can contribute with
deep knowledge in project management for restoration projects
and preservation.
