Sustainable Development of Industrial Heritage Site, Senje Coalmine

After the first preliminary meeting in Senje that was held in July 2007, preparations started on the site. In November 2008 the project started to be implemented through:

  • designing the map of Industrial Heritage Site of Senje in order to support the cultural heritage profile of Senje Coalmine, which would result in this site would be recognized as a potential cultural heritage site worth visiting.
  • creating the first set of tourist information signs, where for the first time Senje Coalmine region would have a sign that would lead visitors from the main highway to the site
  • production of documentation necessary for restoration of the old manufacturing works.The manufacturing works was previously used for blacksmith works and would be revitalized and turned into a cultural
tourist point. The building is located opposite of Coalmine Museum and could well suit its new purpose
