Opening of Heritage Surgery

As a part of the overall project "Heritage at Risk: Redefining Cultural Values through the Built Heritage of SE Europe" project implemented between September/October 2008 and 31st July 2010 as part of the European Union Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency Culture Programme (2007 – 2013), the work of the first Heritage Surgery in Gjirokastra will be announced on 27th of September 2009 at 11.00.

The project "Heritage at Risk" is implemented through a multidisciplinary team from the following Organizations: Transylvania Trust, Romania, Cultural Heritage without Borders, (Sweden) Dubrovnik Preservation Foundation, (Croatia), National Office for Cultural Heritage, (Hungary) and The Butrint Foundation, (UK).

One of the aims of the project is to open a center (Heritage Surgery) in every city where at least one of the above mentioned organizations operates, where the residents of those cities, and owners of the cultural historic monuments ( all categories) could come for an advise concerning roof repairs, rainwater disposal, damp-proofing, use of materials, supplies of water and power and other matters. Architects at the office will be at the disposal of the citizens of Gjirokastra in order to give advice on maintenance and repair of houses free of charge.
The heritage surgery will be opened every Thursday in a week, from 12.00 until 13.00.

All are welcome.
